Straight answers

The questions jewellers actually ask on the first call, answered here so you can read them before you book a demo rather than after.

Does JewellerGen price a bill from today's gold rate?

Yes. Your rate board holds a buy and a sell rate for every metal and purity you deal in. When a tag is scanned the line prices itself from that rate, the piece's net weight and purity, plus making, wastage and stone charges. The rate used is locked onto the bill and stamped with its source, so a bill reprinted next year still shows the rate it was sold at.

Can it handle old gold exchanged against a new purchase?

Yes, inside the same bill. You enter the old items with gross, stone and net weight and the tested purity, JewellerGen values them at your buy rate less your deduction, and the credit comes off the bill. The old gold becomes a separate purchase document in its own right, so the register and the tax treatment stay correct.

Is HUID supported?

Yes. HUID is validated as a six-character BIS identifier, kept unique across your stock, and printed on the tag and on each invoice line. Enforcement is switched on by the country pack, so a UAE store is never asked for it.

How does GST work for a jeweller?

The India edition applies 3% on articles under HSN 7113 and 5% on making charges when they are billed separately, splits CGST/SGST against IGST from your branch state and the place of supply, and produces a GSTR-1 shaped summary and HSN summary. e-Invoice IRN with the signed QR is generated through a GSP where your turnover requires it.

Does it work for a UAE shop?

Yes. The UAE edition issues 5% VAT tax invoices carrying your TRN, rounds to fils, prints bilingual Arabic and English documents, and applies the reverse charge on business-to-business supplies of precious metals between VAT registrants under Cabinet Decision 127/2024.

We have several branches. How is stock kept apart?

Every tag, lot and movement carries its branch. Users are allocated to specific branches and see only those — an empty allocation means no access, never all access. The only document that moves stock across a branch boundary is a transfer, which has a dispatch, an in-transit state and a per-piece receipt with discrepancy handling.

Will it work if the internet drops at the counter?

JewellerGen needs a connection at the counter. Most shops run it on the shop broadband with a phone hotspot as the fallback, which covers the rare outage without anyone stopping work.

Who owns the data, and can we get it out?

You do. Every blotter and report exports to CSV, XLSX or PDF, there is a bulk export of items, customers, vendors and rates, and accounting data goes out as Tally XML or a generic ledger export for Zoho Books and QuickBooks. Asking for a full database extract of your own data is a support request, not a negotiation.

Can we move our existing stock and customers in?

Yes. Bulk import takes items with jewellery fields, customers, vendors, purities and rates from CSV or XLSX, runs a dry run first and gives you a validation report before anything is written. Onboarding help with the first import is included.

What hardware do we need?

A tablet or a desktop browser, a barcode scanner that types like a keyboard, and a label printer. A weighing scale can be read over the browser's serial connection, and XRF or karat meter readings can be captured against a buyback. Nothing needs installing on the machine.

Is it one price for everything?

Pricing is per branch, with every core counter feature — billing, tagging, stock, old gold, transfers, GST or VAT and the reports — in the base plan. Later-phase modules such as savings schemes and online selling are add-ons. See the pricing page.
